Armenian Kitchen
Armenian cuisine includes the foods and cooking techniques of the Armenian people and traditional Armenian foods and dishes. The cuisine reflects the history and geography where Armenians have lived as well as sharing outside influences from European and Levantine cuisines. The cuisine also reflects the traditional crops and animals grown and raised in Armenian-populated areas.
The preparation of meat, fish, and vegetable dishes in an Armenian kitchen often requires stuffing, frothing, and puréeing. Lamb, eggplant, and bread (lavash) are basic features of Armenian cuisine. Armenians traditionally prefer cracked wheat (bulgur) to maize and rice. The flavor of the food often relies on the quality and freshness of the ingredients rather than on excessive use of spices.
Armenian cooking is very delicate, although they usually cook easy dishes; As a result, its taste depends on the cook. That's why you should always look for an Armenian grandmother who will serve you exactly what you need to try. That's why I was looking for the best restaurants in Armenia that could give me such feelings.
Best restaurant in Gyumri
Hatsatun restaurant is one of those best restaurants. An excellent restaurant in the heart of Gyumri city. Undoubtedly, this must be one of the most famous restaurants in this city; A restaurant that not only serves local food for tourists, but it's also a great restaurant for the locals themselves, an international restaurant that offers local Armenian food, local Georgian and Italian food, local drinks and warm soups are served in it.
Atmosphere
Hatsatun restaurant, in this cold city, has a very warm atmosphere. The wooden space, and its unique wooden color, can create good moments for everyone. Staff with a friendly smile, with the ability to speak three languages, are ready to welcome you. For me, having dined there twice, it felt like I was eating warm soup in a warm country house in a cold village on top of a mountain. In my opinion, the atmosphere, and the attitude of the waiters of a restaurant are very important, and if I want to comment on this restaurant from this point of view, I have to choose a score of 10 out of 10 for it.
Foods
I wanted to try both local and international dishes of this restaurant. The first night I tried different and very delicious soups, which were really fresh. On the second night, at the suggestion of Karlen, one of the best tour operators in Gyumri, I tried the pizza of this restaurant. It was wonderful. The quality of all its ingredients was fresh and delicious. Local salad is one of those things that cannot be removed from Armenian tables.
Gyumri: best tour guide
As I wrote, I met Karlen in the city of Gyumri. A very intelligent, well-educated, and patriotic young man, who loves his job as a tour guide. He is one of the first people I know in Armenia whose heart beats for his country, he wants to show the history of this city, that is, Alexandropol, or Gyumri, to the world. Accompany them in the numerous museums of this city, and teach them everything in the best way in English, Russian or Armenian. I didn't have the chance to take the tour with Karlen, but I'm sure I will on my next trip. I'm sure, he can be the best local leader of this city, I learned this from the short conversation I had with him. As a result, I use the empty space at the end of this post to introduce Karlen to tourism lovers.
