Yerevan
Whenever I get frustrated with the world, I book a flight to spend some time in the sky, above the clouds. I less care about the destination, I want to get away from all for a while, sometimes I get that by climbing.
Hello, this is my first post after five months. I started a long and endless journey, I had no free time, but from now on I will try to take you with me.
I bought a flight to the capital of Armenia, Yerevan, a country that I always dreamed of visiting, but insufficient information prevented me from this trip, I had heard about its kind people, about their music, about the beauty of this country and most importantly, their culture. My Armenian friends wanted me to tell them everything I needed, they accepted me with open arms.
We will review their restaurants, foods, hotels, routes and of course about anthropology in this country. join me.
I arrived in Yerevan on a one-way flight. Where my flight landed, and my ambitions began. A journey that has no end. I moved out of the city from the airport with all the cells in my body; Like a soldier who ran away from the war.
An Armenian greeted me in Persian, as if he wanted to take me with his taxi. I went outside, it was very cold, I got into a van to get to the hotel, the hotel, better say a motel, full of cats. The owner, who was an old man, said with a smile, take off your mask, that's when I realized that no one wears a mask in this country except me.
To be honest, I didn't like there, not that clean, I came out, and I came across a quote on the wall, which I translated later.
A patriotic quote by Dushman (Vardan Stepanyan), a hero and military commander from Armenia during the Artsakh war:
Love her as you love your father and mother, because our land is the parent of us all.
I went to another hotel. The hotel I booked earlier. This one was much more beautiful and clean.
I rested until the night, the snow came and stopped every moment. I fell in love with the atmosphere of Yerevan; Like an old Soviet city that smelled of generosity, the smell of history, culture and effort. It was a place where people think differently, laugh at things differently and live with another culture. This is where Charles Aznavour came from.
There is a certain peace and kindness in faces of most Armenians.
For me, who loves history, Armenia smells old, an old country with unique architecture. Armenia is a less seen country, sometimes an ignored country, with people that has seen history and suffered a lot. Here the walls have words, they can talk about the things they have seen, laugh and cry for years. Cry... this is just the beginning of the journey, after a few days the sky will only cry. Indeed, wherever you walk, you will surely see something about Charles Aznavour, the Armenian-French singer.
Armenian architecture comprises architectural works with an aesthetic or historical connection to the Armenian people. It is difficult to situate this architectural style within precise geographical or chronological limits, but many of its monuments were created in the regions of historical Armenia, the Armenian Highlands. The greatest achievement of Armenian architecture is generally agreed to be its medieval churches and seventh century churches, though there are different opinions precisely in which respects.
Just as the world is changing, and everything is moving towards being fake; The lies and efforts of people, governments and countries for wealth and power are increasing, However this is different in Armenia. Armenian people have preserved their originality. Religion, architecture, beliefs, traditions and culture of Armenians are still strong; This makes me love Armenians.
With every step I take in the streets of this country, I feel the love of the people, the peace that these walls, this atmosphere give me. Here everything is created with love, people live as we read in book stories. They work for bread. They study to create artworks, they strive to create wine, which here is like a blessed substance; It should be like this, Armenians have preserved their history and authenticity with tooth and nail.
Here they work with love for their country; I understood this from the beginning from the eyes of the man who was pulling the luggages out of the plane. Wherever in the world Armenians are, their hearts still remain in Armenia, even if they never saw this land. I learned this from my Armenian friends all over the world.
Armenia is the first Christian country. And the first country that stands firm on their beliefs. This means authenticity. In the last pictures, you can see the statue of Alexander Spendiaryan, soviet music composer, conductor, founder of Armenian national symphonic music. And also the statue of Aram Khachaturian, composer and conductor. He is considered one of the leading Soviet composers.
You must have seen in the movies, that the main character of the story, who is an innocent and kind person, enters an alley, several people surround him and beat him. And you must have seen in other movies that the main character of the movie is mistakenly imprisoned, and on the first night all the prisoners beat him. This is the situation of Armenia in the region. The memorial in front of me remembers this better than I do.
This country has been invaded many times, genocides have taken place in it, it has been occupied, with a lot of wars, and it has been attacked from all sides. But kindness and love never left it. Attackers do not know that history and culture are not stored in a flash memory, these two things are inseparable, things that can never be erased.
No matter how many wars took place in Armenia, its sky will remain beautiful, love, tradition, culture and affection will continue to flow in it.
Next, I went to a restaurant in Yerevan, Oriento restaurant, which is managed by kindest Armenians, a restaurant where you can find dishes from neighboring countries; Armenians love their country, other traditions and other nations.
